What Is Youth United All About?
Youth United is a program focused on giving youth, ages 5-25, from different backgrounds, faiths and organizations the opportunity to work together to sponsor and build a house with Habitat CFC. The goal of Youth United is to target groups of young, enthusiastic volunteers to build homes, develop leadership skills, engage in positive service activities and experience the joy of helping others. Habitat CFC provides activities that involve youth safely, appropriately and legally in our work. This program gives young people the opportunity to invest directly in their communities and in community service.
What Are The Best Reasons To Participate?
It will benefit your community. Young people energized by community service will become dynamic community members and leaders. Habitat for Humanity projects can unify diverse racial, political, sectarian and ethnic groups, and build lasting relationships that strengthen individuals and communities.
It will benefit each young person involved. Working with Habitat for Humanity is a great way for young people to put their energy and commitment to good use and realize that they can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
It will benefit a local family currently living in substandard housing. Thanks to this new group of Habitat volunteers, another family in your community will enjoy the blessings of a simple, decent home.
What Are The Highlights?
Youth United holds planning meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00PM. The meetings are held at the Habitat Office at 1542 Barnum Ave, Bridgeport. Interested youth and adults are welcome to attend.
